The Power of the Purse kicked off the 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote with a sold-out crowd at the 2020 Centennial event on Friday, December 6, 2019, at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples to celebrate the ratification of the 19th amendment, and the women’s suffrage movement.

Twenty-five representatives from local women’s organizations participated in a “Suffrage Roll Call” inspired by Jackie Pierce, Women’s Foundation of Collier County Board Chair, who passed away less than three weeks before the event. The roll call highlighted key women’s suffrage activists and their contributions. Stacey Deffenbaugh, NBC-2 News Anchor, emceed the event.

The Power of the Purse also paid tribute to Jackie Pierce, Women’s Foundation Board Chair. All donations at the event went to Jackie’s field-of-interest fund at the Community Foundation for grantmaking for local women and girls.
