SunTrust Bank recently granted $5,000 in support of the Women’s Foundation of Collier County marketing efforts. The Women’s Foundation of Collier County is a field-of-interest fund whose mission is to serve the current and changing needs of women and girls in Collier County through funding. The fund is governed by a steering committee and is administered by the Community Foundation of Collier County. The Women’s Foundation raises money and does extensive research on community needs before making grants to local organizations.
“Issues facing women and girls have unique roots and community-wide impact. Despite the dramatic advancement of women in recent decades, women are still far more likely than men to be homeless, live in poverty, be unemployed or under-employed, face violence, or live in substandard housing and have inadequate health care,” said Eileen Connolly-Keesler, President/CEO of the Community Foundation of Collier County.
“The Women’s Foundation is committed to making this a better community for women and girls. While there are other local Women’s Foundations, ours is committed solely to Collier County. Money raised here stays in Collier County. We are proud to partner with SunTrust Bank,” noted Connolly-Keesler.
The Women’s Foundation of Collier County was established by women community leaders to develop a sustainable way to meet the economic, educational, physical, emotional, social, artistic and personal growth needs of women and girls in Collier County. In 2016, the Women’s Foundation will be celebrating their 20th anniversary and the impact the Foundation has had on our community. In the past three years, the Women’s Foundation of Collier County granted more than $185,000 to local nonprofit organizations in the areas of health and safety, at-risk teens, basic needs and senior women.
